Our Philosophy
At Yorkshire Dental our philosophy is to provide our patients with the information they need to make informed decisions about their care and treatment. We explain the options that are available, make our recommendations regarding treatment, then let our patients make the final decision. We want our patients to feel comfortable asking questions and to walk feeling good about the decision they made regarding their treatment.
Thomas A. Schmanski DDS
Dr. Schmanski received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Upon graduation in 1982 Dr. Schmanski founded Yorkshire Dental in Brookings, SD in 2004.
Dr. Schmanski stays on top of the latest in dental techniques and technology by attending advanced continuing dental education seminars and maintaining memberships in dental professional organizations. Dr. Schmanski is currently a member of the South Dakota Dental Association (SDDA) and American Dental Association. He is also currently the trustee for the Northern District SDDA. Dr. Schmanski is a past delegate and past president of the Northern District SDDA.
Outside of the office you will find Dr. Schmanski restoring old cars. He recently sold a 1935 Chevy Sedan that will be featured in Johnny Depp’s upcoming movie, Public Enemies. Dr. Schmanski is also an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts (He received his Eagle Scout award in 1972). Dr. Schmanski and his wife Kris live in a 105 year old home in Brookings with their 4 children and 2 dogs.
Kris S.
Kris is Yorkshire Dentals Human Resource person and Office Bookkeeper. She has a mathematics degree from South Dakota State University, which really comes in handy when dealing with all the numbers as our bookkeeper. Kris has been with Yorkshire dental since it opened 18 years ago.
Kris loves working in the constantly changing field of dentistry. She also enjoys hearing the positive comments from satisfied patients.
Outside of the office Kris’s interests are in traveling, music, stained glass and attending continuing education courses. Kris and her husband Tom have 4 children and live in Brookings.
LuAnn A.
LuAnn is Yorkshire Dentals Patient and Treatment Coordinator and has been with us for almost 5 years. LuAnn answers the phone and greets patients when they come into the office. She also assists patients with scheduling their next appointment, financial arrangements and processing their insurance claims.
LuAnn enjoys meeting and talking with our patients and assisting them with their needs. Our patients really appreciate that LuAnn is willing to go the extra mile to make sure they are well served.
LuAnn and her husband of 37 years live it De Smet. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. LuAnn loves spending time with her family.
Stephanie K.
Stephanie, our Dental Assistant , assist the doctor with dental procedures, makes temporizes, takes impressions and x-rays. She attended Lake Area Technical Institute and has worked in the dental field for 14 years and has been with Dr. Schmanski for 6.
Stephanie enjoys the ever-changing field of dentistry and helping patients solve their dental problems. Our patients appreciate that Stephanie is able to empathize with them.
Stephanie and her son live in Brookings. In her spare time Stephanie loves to cook.
Britney P.
Britney recently joined our practice as one of our Registered Dental Hygienist after graduating from the University of South Dakota.
Britney enjoys meeting and getting to know the patients at Yorkshire Dental.
Britney is engaged to be married and currently lives in Clear Lake.
Heather G.
Heather is a Registered Dental Hygienist and has been with Yorkshire for almost 3 years. Heather helps are patients keep their smile healthy by performing cleanings, periodontal therapy and x-rays. She received her Dental assisting degree from MN West Canby and her Dental Hygienist degree from Argosy University Eagan, MN.
Heather and her husband live in Hendricks, MN and welcomed a new baby daughter in July 08.
