Not all dental clinics are the same.  In fact, except for extremely large practices, the direction and philosophy of a dental clinic are determined by the dentist who heads the practice.  Deciding which dental office is right for you means getting to know something about that practice and that means getting to know something about the dentist.  So lets get to know a something about Dr. Thomas Schmanski of the Yorkshire Dental Clinic.

"The philosophy that guides our practice is that your health care choices are your choices," Schmanski explains.  "They are not mine to make and they certainly are not an insurance company's to make."  According to Dr. Schmanski, there are often several different approaches regarding a dental treatment or restoration.  "We will explain the options to you and make our recommendations regarding your treatment, but the decisions are yours to make."

What guides Dr. Schmanski in making recommendations to his patients?  "That's very simple", Schmanski responded.  "I always ask myself if I would want that restoration in my mouth."  Dr. Schmanski said he strives to always provide the right treatment and that isn't always the easiest or the cheapest solution.  "In my book, either it's right or it needs to be corrected.  I am insistent with our staff, lab and suppliers that we not take short cuts.  Good dentistry is difficult enough without cutting corners.  Do we have 100% success?  No... this is an imperfect science... the results are not always 'perfect', but by doing all the little things right, we stand a lot better chance of success."

So what can patients expect at Yorkshire Dental Clinic?  "You will always get our best efforts", Schmanski pledged.  "You will always be treated fairly.  Sure, some days go better than others, but we hold ourselves to high standards and everyone in our clinic knows that if you are not treated well I want to know about it.  We know we can't please everyone, but we will do our best to try."

Finding a dental clinic that makes you feel comfortable and confident is a difficult decision.  "The best advice I can give someone is to ask around and do their homework", said Dr. Schmanski.  "Not all dental treatment is the same.  Unfortunately it comes in varying degrees of quality and it can be hard for the general public to evaluate that quality.  Sometimes even dentists disagree on what is best.  Just don't ever forget that your health care choices are yours to make so be your own advocate.  Ask questions... ask around.  If you are already a patient at Yorkshire Dental Clinic we owe you our sincere thanks for your trust.  If you are looking for a dental clinic, we would be happy to visit with you.  All we can promise you is our very best."
